HearHere Goes Coast to Coast

HearHere Goes Coast to Coast

Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota

As we kick off the "Summer of the Road Trip", the HearHere team is excited to announce that, no matter where you're driving in the continental U.S, we’ll have your vacation entertainment covered: thrilling, educational, and inspiring stories for the whole ride from coast to coast.

This recent expansion means that you can now access over 8,300 stories across the mainland United States and growing!

Our new stories offer a daily dose of Americana in its original form, narrated by celebrities such as Kevin Costner, Phil Jackson, and more. Our innovation brings together everyday Americans and celebrities. Woody Sears, our CEO, teamed up with Oscar winner Kevin Costner to help spearhead HearHere in August of 2020. The famed actor and storyteller originally signed on as a narrator for specialty stories, but so deeply loved the innovation and decision-making aspects of the travel-tech platform, he joined as a Co-Founder of our company.

“When road-tripping, I found myself wanting to know more about my surroundings than was available on signs and at road stops, and so the idea for HearHere was born,” said Woody Sears, CEO, and Co-Founder at HearHere. “We are so happy to be able to expand our reach across the ‘Lower 48’ and give more people access to the rich untold histories of the U.S. in an accessible, user-friendly way."

“I serendipitously met Woody through our children and was immediately hooked on the vision and mission of HearHere,” said Kevin Costner, HearHere co-founder. “HearHere prioritizes authenticity and truth in our stories. We cover America's past, which as you know, in addition to the rich stories, unfortunately also involves a deep history of tragic events like the displacement of Indigenous people and the treatment and history of African American people. We tell these stories because they are crucial to understanding the full history of a location and our nation."

Our impressive roadtripping app creates buzz around a fun new recreation sector: audio entertainment. The first of its kind with a nationwide platform, we certainly pay homage to our namesake through the application of audio technology propagated by AI and geographic tracking in a revolutionary way. Our platform has also strategically brought on Tesla alumnus, Bryce Shawcross, as Art Director and has minted Christopher Brandow of OpenTable as Director of Mobile Apps to elevate our expansive product offerings to better your experience on our app. Stay tuned for more journeys through time.

      Hi Barbara,

Thanks for your patience on Android but it won’t be available before this winter. We’ll be sure to let you know when it is available.

Some people have purchased used iPod Touch devices and then logged on with hotspot to their Android phones which does the trick. If you end up doing that, please reach out and we’ll make sure to discount your subscription. Just send a note to [email protected]

      Thanks!

  3. We’re heading to the Grand Canyon by train this fall from Durand MI – Chicago, IL – there we are! Will this work about the Amtrak? Sure hope so!

Yes, we’ll have stories along your route for sure. We’re more focused on car routes but there is plenty of overlap with Amtrak. You may find yourself outside of cellular coverage often so we recommend downloading stories in advance so that you can listen to them on location. Use the MAP VIEW to scope out your route and the stories along the way. Enjoy!

  4. I love having the stories on the app. I did get to try it on my trip 2 wks ago from Idaho to Fresno California back up the California coast redwoods and thru central eastern Oregon. I found that I needed to manually advance through the stories which was hard to do while driving. I was hoping that as I changed Location the next story would come up automatically. Hopefully that will be something that will be available in the future. I love the app

      Hi Shirley,
Sounds like an amazing trip! You are correct that the stories should play automatically, you just need to make sure that you have AUTO-PLAY on and you’ve granted HearHere location access. If you have any troubles, please write us at [email protected]

      Thanks!

      Hi Deb,

Thanks for your patience. We don’t have a date for Android yet but will be sure to make a big announcement when we do.

  7. I willingly volunteer to be your poster child for this app. Just got back from a road trip with friends from Prescott, Arizona to Nashville, Tennessee and the app provided historical and amusing stories for us all along the way. We three absolutely loved the app and have been telling anyone who will listen and who has asked about our trip what a difference the app made to our enjoyment along the way. Keep those stories coming – and thank you –

Glad to hear it Debbie! We have hundreds of stories in the New England area and looking forward to hearing from you once you’ve had a chance to experience them firsthand.

  8. Love this idea and live in Portland, OR. How do I find out if there are enough stories near me to decide whether or not to download? Is there a map of your story coverage somewhere on the site?

Hi Josh- The best place to see our coverage map is by installing the app for free at https://hearhere.com/app where you’ll be able to see all the stories near you in Portland as well as sample five stories for free.

Please let us know what you think!
