AAA predicts that 96.5% of travel from July to September will be by car, that’s somewhere around 683 million car trips; it’s the summer of the American road trip.

In these complicated times, the simple beauty of the open road is hard to improve upon. We believe HearHere has done just that. HearHere is a network of stories, told by master storytellers like Kevin Costner and Phil Jackson, with the power to bring the landscape, it’s people, and its history alive as you pass through it.

Professionally edited and narrated, the audio vignettes combine to paint a picture you’re unlikely to get from a history book or visitor's guide. The stories are served up on your phone at the perfect time to answer the questions we all ask as the odometer turns:

  • “I wonder how this town came to be?”
  • “Who was that mountain peak named after?”
  • “Who were the first people to live in this area?”

Each pin offers an answer, and often to a question one doesn’t think to ask. Story subjects include history, sports, culture, music, geology, pretty much everything you can think of. Listen to the places, people and events you’re seeing out your window. Educational? Sure. Entertaining? Absolutely.

By next summer HearHere will offer more than 10,000 stories, blanketing the United States on both Android and iOS. Beginning today, you’ll find more than 1,500 stories covering the West Coast of California, Oregon and Washington on the HearHere App for iPhone.

Listeners can stream five stories for free and then choose to upgrade to HearHere’s annual subscription of $35.99. The subscription includes offline listening for future or home listening.

We invite you to download the HearHere App for iPhone  and give it a try on your next road trip. We have huge ambitions for this platform and we would be honored if you would find a time to listen during your next journey.

  2. Android, please! Any estimate on availability? I’d be happy to help test! I travel a lot in my campervan and am an avid audiobook listener – looking forward to learning more about the areas I’m traveling thru.
